Puerto Vallarta:
A Quick Guide

Are you in Puerto Vallarta and wondering more about the place? Take a look at our quick guide and enjoy your visit!

Did you know Puerto Vallarta experienced a boom in the 1960s after it was featured in a popular motion picture called The Night of the Iguana? (1964), starring Richard Burton as an excommunicated minister who works as a tour guide in Mexico, while on a bus trip he grows obsessed with Charlotte, a promiscuous young beauty… Sexual tensions soon arise…

Vallarta was virtually unknown when the film was shot in 1963. However, the presence in town of Burton with Elizabeth Taylor—and their very public extramarital affair—attracted paparazzi, made international headlines, and transformed the area into a world-famous tourist destination. Sets from the film remain popular tourist attractions.
